William StrunkOn Friday, November 3, 2017, we, along with his family, celebrated the life of our club founder, and recently departed, William Strunk. There were two afternoon memorial services. The first was full military honors performed by the U.S. Air Force where his ashes were burried in Ft. Logan Cemetery. The second was a Celebration of Life service at the Smoky Hill United Methodist Church in Aurora.

More than 100 were in attendance, including William’s wife Peg, son, daughter, and many relatives and friends.

Last night, Wednesday, November 9, 2016, we were honored to be invited to present at the Colorado Technical University Aurora Campus at their career fair.

We met students from a variety of nationalities and age groups as we talked about the importance of learning how to give good presentations and practice public speaking and presentation skills on a weekly basis…in a supportive environment.

Come help us celebrate 37 years of George Sutton Toastmasters! Our Reunion Meeting will be on Thursday, June 9th from 11:30 – 1:00 in Room 424 of the Colorado Technical University, 3151 South Vaughn St., Aurora, 80014.

This will be a great chance to see old friends and meet current Toastmasters.

If you’d like, as part of Table Topics, you can share your favorite memories of Toastmasters or tell us how being in Toastmasters has helped you.

We will be serving a complimentary lunch beginning at 11:00, so plan to arrive early.

Address: 2851 S Parker Rd, Aurora 80014.
Directions: The building is located on the SW corner of S Parker Rd and Yale Ave, in the Pavilion towers. The meeting room we will be using is located in Tower 1. There is a pond and fountain located in front of Tower 1.

Contest winners Heather Brown and Tonya Sunderland.Congratulations to Heather Brown (1st place) and Tonya Sunderland (2nd place) for their award-winning evaluations in the 2014 evaluation contest at the George Sutton Toastmasters club. Heather will be representing our club at the Area contest in late September (date and location to be announced).

Special thanks to Gretchen Vaughn of the Toast of Inverness club for serving as our test speaker.

Heather will also be our appointed representative at the humorous speech contest. I’d tell you what her topic is but that would be sharing insider information…look out competition!
